Kerrville, TX – February 9, 2025 – The Palo Alto College Palominos secured their spot in the EOS Tournament Championship after a commanding 94-66 victory over Schreiner University's Developmental team on Sunday evening. The dominant performance showcased their offensive firepower and defensive intensity, setting the stage for Monday's title showdown.
Palominos Take Control Early
Right from the opening tip, Palo Alto College dictated the pace of the game. Marco Camacho led the charge with an impressive 20-point performance, shooting a stellar 80% from the field (8-10) while adding 5 assists and a steal. He was instrumental in pushing the tempo and setting up teammates for high-percentage shots.
Daylon Gonzales was also a key contributor, putting up 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting and knocking down three three-pointers (3-5 from beyond the arc). His perimeter scoring helped the Palominos build a comfortable lead in the first half.
On the defensive end, Juju Lacivita-Jenkins was a force, recording 9 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals while also adding 15 points to the stat sheet. His ability to disrupt passing lanes and initiate fast breaks was crucial in shutting down Schreiner's offensive rhythm.
Balanced Attack Leads the Way
The Palominos' depth was on full display as multiple players contributed in significant ways:
- Roger Dominguez provided a spark with 14 points, shooting 71% (5-7) from the floor and draining four three-pointers (4-5).
- Nathaniel Wilbanks chipped in 8 points, knocking down 2 three-pointers and playing solid defense.
- Daylon Gonzales led the defensive effort with 5 steals, showcasing Palo Alto's aggressive press defense.
The team's unselfish play and ball movement (led by Camacho and Jenkins) allowed them to stretch the lead in the second half, never allowing Schreiner University to mount a serious comeback.
