After months of hard work, sweat, and preparation, all sports are in full swing, and the Palominos are ready to make this year one to remember. With a brand new roster of talented athletes and fresh programs, it's shaping up to be the most exciting year yet for PAC sports.
Our athletes have been grinding since August, putting in the time and effort during summer practices to ensure they're ready to compete at the highest level. And this season marks a milestone in PAC Athletics history—it's the first-ever officially recruited class of athletes at the college! From top-tier freshmen to seasoned returners, our teams are stacked and ready to make their mark.
This fall, PAC Athletics has something even more exciting to celebrate—the inaugural season of the Palomino Baseball program! Athletics at PAC look different than they ever have before. There are more sports, more athletes, and more games than ever before. The energy is high, and the community is buzzing with anticipation.
As the season has already kicked off, let's dive into some quick updates on where our teams stand and what to look forward to as we head into the Fall semester!
Men's Baseball: A New Era Begins
Coach David Brien and the Palomino baseball team have been hard at work in the Texas heat for over a month and a half. Temperatures soared this August, but nothing could stop these players from giving it their all during practice. With a whole roster of new faces, the team has come together in impressive fashion.
So far, they've had two successful scrimmages here at home in San Antonio, showcasing their high-scoring potential. The Palominos are gearing up for their first official game this Saturday, September 20th, in Corpus Christi against Texas A&M University Corpus Christi's Corp of Cadets club team. The doubleheader kicks off at 10 AM, with the second game at noon. This will be the first official game in PAC baseball history—can they start strong and bring home a win in their inaugural season?
Women's Volleyball: Off to a Strong Start
The Palomino women's volleyball team is off to a fantastic start under the leadership of first-year head coach Savannah Cassiano. In a thrilling match this past Tuesday, the ladies defeated the JBSA Randolph base team 3-1. The sets were tightly contested, but PAC showed resilience and skill both on offense and defense.
This season, the team is a perfect blend of returning veterans and fresh talent. Players like Harley Valdez and Nevaeh Anguiano bring valuable experience, while freshmen like Aira Gonzales and Amy Escalera are making an immediate impact. With the right coaching and a deep roster, this team is hungry for redemption after finishing just third place last year. The Palominos are set to take on St. Philip's College in the Tiger Den next Thursday, September 25th, at 7 PM. Come out and support the squad as they begin conference play!
Men's Basketball: Defending Champions
The Palomino men's basketball team enters the 2025 season as the defending TCAC conference champions. While the roster has seen some changes, the winning culture remains intact. Returning leaders like Julian Lacivita-Jenkins, Noah Green, and Manny Rabago-Castro are joined by a talented group of freshmen who are ready to defend the title and bring home the first-ever back-to-back conference championship in school history.
PAC's men's basketball team had their first official game last week against the Monterrey Borregos, a club team from Mexico. The game was a defensive slugfest, with standout performances from freshmen Tyvon Taylor and Myles Keeler, both showing off their dunking skills. However, the Palominos fell short, losing 44-51. Coach Randall Green and the Palominos are now focusing on their upcoming game, starting conference play on Wednesday, September 24th, at 8 PM against the Wildcats at Northwest Vista College. Expect a high-energy game between two of last season's Final Four teams!
Women's Basketball: Ready for the Challenge
The Palomino women's basketball team has been working tirelessly in practice, and they're itching to get on the court for their first official game of the season. With a deep roster of 10-12 players, this year's team has flipped the script compared to last season. With a talented group of newcomers and Alyssa Garcia leading the way as the sole returning player, this team is poised to make a big impact in conference play.
Head Coach Fabian Villarreal has prepared these ladies for battle, and they're ready to show what they can do. The women's basketball team will start conference play next Wednesday, September 24th, at 6 PM against Northwest Vista College. The Palominos are ready to "Run as One" and bring home some big wins this season. Don't miss their season opener—come out and cheer them on!
