San Antonio, TX — April 2025
The drought is over. For the first time since 2008, Palo Alto College Men's Basketball is back on top of the Texas Collegiate Athletic Conference (TCAC) after a gritty 85-78 victory over rival San Antonio College.
The Palominos left no doubt on the court, fueled by a complete team effort and standout performances from key players across the board.
Daylon Gonzales led the charge offensively with 22 points, grabbing 9 rebounds, dishing out 3 assists, and swiping 4 steals, all while shooting 88% from the free-throw line. His energy on both ends of the court set the tone early and never faded.
Right behind him was Julian Lacivita-Jenkins, who delivered a strong all-around performance with 15 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks, shooting an efficient 50% from the floor and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line.
Marco Camacho also played a pivotal role, dropping 12 points, handing out 4 assists, and collecting 4 boards, with a sharp 50% shooting clip and 83% free-throw accuracy.
The Palominos spread the wealth across the lineup:
-
Manuel Rabago-Castro added another 15 points on 54% shooting, with 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
-
Spencer Green chipped in 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals, knocking down clutch shots when it counted.
-
Rene Perez provided a spark with 8 points, 2 rebounds, and a steal.
-
Bench contributors like Roger Dominguez, Jaxon Huff, and George Valdez Jr. helped with crucial minutes and defensive stops.
In total, Palo Alto shot 41% from the field, dominated the glass with 47 rebounds, and dished out 13 assists as a team. Their swarming defense forced 9 turnovers and produced 11 steals, stifling SAC's rhythm throughout.
"This win was years in the making," said Head Coach [Coach Green]. "We've built a culture around effort, accountability, and belief — and tonight, it all came together."
With this championship, Palo Alto College reclaims its place among the TCAC elite and sets a new standard for the program's future.
Congratulations to the 2025 TCAC Champions — Palo Alto Palominos!
