Palo Alto College Athletics Hosts Free COSA Youth Volleyball Clinic

Palo Alto College Athletics Hosts Free COSA Youth Volleyball Clinic
This past Saturday morning, February 15th, Palo Alto College Athletics had the honor of hosting the City of San Antonio Youth Volleyball Clinic at the Harlandale Community Center. The clinic welcomed a wide range of young athletes, from ages 6 to 16, with skill levels ranging from beginners to more advanced players.

The event, aimed at providing kids with an opportunity to improve their volleyball skills and build confidence, saw a fantastic turnout. Volunteers from both the Palo Alto College women's volleyball team and men's basketball team were on hand to coach, guide, and encourage the young participants. These student-athletes served as both mentors and role models, offering valuable tips and sharing their passion for the game.

When asked about the purpose behind hosting these clinics, Palo Alto College Volleyball Head Coach Citlally Montelongo explained, "We put on these types of events solely to give our athletes a chance to give back to their community. Serving others is such a huge part of what we preach here at PAC. We want our student-athletes to help kids believe in themselves, just like they experienced when they were young."

The clinic focused on fundamental volleyball skills, from serving and passing to setting and spiking. But beyond technical training, the emphasis was also on fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and self-confidence in the young players. The enthusiastic energy from both the volunteers and participants made for an inspiring and enjoyable morning for all involved.

Looking ahead, this clinic is just one of many upcoming opportunities for young athletes to get involved. Palo Alto College is planning additional clinics throughout the semester with more opportunities for volleyball, basketball, and soccer. PAC is also excited to announce a new partnership with the YMCA, offering more community-centered events and programs. Palo Alto and the YMCA will be putting on their 2025 Summer Youth Sports Camps together, where kids will have the chance to develop their skills in a variety of sports and physcial activities.

Palo Alto College Athletics is dedicated to creating positive experiences for youth athletes and providing a platform for student-athletes to make a difference in their community. With more events on the horizon, the future of local youth sports looks brighter than ever here on the Southside of San Antonio!
