Palominos Sweep the Mountaineers in Statement Doubleheader at Schreiner University

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Palo Alto College Men's Baseball team rolled into Kerrville this week with one goal: dominate. And dominate they did.

The Palominos brought the thunder in both games of Tuesday's doubleheader, taking down the Schreiner University Mountaineers Developmental squad 11-4 in Game One and 7-2 in Game Two — showcasing explosive offense, lockdown pitching, and flawless defense.

Game One: Palominos Unleash 11-Run Barrage

PAC wasted no time setting the tone.

In the top of the first inning, a sharp lineout from Emanuel Rivas brought home the first run and sparked an offensive surge that never cooled. The second inning saw the Palominos turn up the pressure: a single from Samaad Bunch, a hit-by-pitch, and a clutch base knock from Christopher Ramos stretched the early lead and put Schreiner on its heels.

Ace Sets the Tone

Luis Garcia-Smith got the start on the mound and delivered a composed four-inning performance. The right-hander allowed six hits and four runs while striking out two and walking two. He even handled his lone defensive chance — a dribbler back to the mound — with calm precision.

But the real exclamation point came from Joshua Cardenas. Cardenas entered in relief and slammed the door shut. Over three innings of zero-run baseball, he gave up just three hits while racking up a whopping six strikeouts and issuing only two walks. Clutch doesn't even begin to describe it.

Offensive Leaders

PAC showed tremendous plate discipline, drawing eight walks and consistently applying pressure. Bunch flashed elite speed on the basepaths, swiping two of the team's three stolen bases.

Defensive Dominance

The Palomino defense was airtight.

  • Turned one critical double play

  • Stranded key Mountaineer runners

  • Zero errors across seven innings

Clean baseball. Winning baseball.

Final: PAC 11, Schreiner (Dev) 4

Game Two: Energy Stays High in 7-2 Victory

If Game One was impressive, Game Two was clinical.

PAC struck first in the third inning when Julian Hernandez laced a single to drive in the opening run. Then came the fifth inning surge: Romeo Castillo roped a double to plate another run, and Christopher Ramos followed with a single to extend the lead to 4-1. The Palominos never looked back.

Pitching Depth on Display

Andrew Alvarez earned his first start of the spring and showed poise on the rubber. Over three innings, he surrendered just three hits and one run, walking three and keeping the Mountaineers off balance. Vincent Ramirez — pulling double duty as reliever and middle infielder — stepped in and locked it down. Ramirez tossed four strong innings, allowing only one hit and one run (zero earned), striking out three while walking just one to earn the win.

Offense Firing on All Cylinders

PAC pounded out 10 hits in Game Two.

Ramos delivered big-time production in the heart of the lineup, continuing his standout day at the plate.

Defense Finishes the Job

The Palominos' defense stayed sharp, turning two double plays and once again backing up their pitchers with clean, disciplined play.

Final: PAC 7, Schreiner (Dev) 2
